Applications Open for 2023 Building Enhancement Grant Program

January 2, 2023

The Drumheller & District Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the return of the Building Enhancement Grant Program in cooperation with the Town of Drumheller and Community Futures Big Country. For 2023, up to $40,000 in funding will be available to help local businesses.

This grant encourages local businesses to enhance their buildings by modernizing and improving appearance and helps business owners reduce the financial burden associated with making improvements to the exterior or interior of their building.

“The Chamber of Commerce is proud to provide the Building Enhancement Grant Program once again to the business community through our partnership with the Town of Drumheller and Community Futures Big Country. For 2023, we are happy to increase the maximum grant funding amount from $5,000 to $6,000 considering inflationary pressures on material and labour costs. We are also excited to include murals as an eligible exterior enhancement under the grant program,” said Heather Bitz, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.

“The Town of Drumheller is thrilled to team up with Community Futures and the Chamber to provide support to businesses to improve their building exteriors and interiors. Since the inception of the grant program, we have seen the value it provides to our community as business owners make improvements to their business premises and the sense of community pride that it has fostered,” stated Darryl Drohomerski, CAO for the Town.

“Community Futures Big Country is pleased to continue our valued partnership with the Drumheller & District Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Drumheller on this important program. The Building Enhancement Grant is an important opportunity for local businesses to update or improve their properties, which helps support their continued success,” said Alison Roppel, Executive Director.

The grant will fund up to 50% of the renovation costs to maximum grant of $6,000 for any one business for either an exterior or interior enhancement. For complete details, including eligible and ineligible expenses, please see the application link below.

The grant also requires that labour and materials be sourced locally from companies holding a valid Drumheller business license. This criteria will benefit local suppliers, contractors and tradespeople. Some exceptions will apply for materials that are unavailable in Drumheller.

The 2023 Building Enhancement Grant is now open for applications. The grant application is available at the link below and intake for applications will close on February 15, 2023.
