2023 BUILDING ENHANCEMENT GRANT RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED

The Drumheller & District Chamber of Commerce along with Community Futures Big Country and the Town of Drumheller are pleased to announce $40,000 has been committed to 13 local businesses through the Building Enhancement Grant Program.

The Building Enhancement Grant is funded through a partnership between the Drumheller & District Chamber of Commerce, Community Futures Big Country and the Town of Drumheller. This grant supports local businesses to enhance their buildings by modernizing and improving appearances, along with helping business owners reduce the financial burden associated with making improvements to their buildings.

The 13 local businesses receiving funding through the Building Enhancement Grant in 2023 are:

- 3rd Avenue Arts

- Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site

- Bikes and Bites Inc.

- Black Mountain Roasters

- Drumheller Chiropractic Centre

- Lois + Ani Tea Shop

- Napier Theatre

- Newcastle Country Inn

- Pearl & Hart

- Poor Sisters Market

- Riverside Physiotherapy Clinic

- Tyrannosaurus Rest B & B

- Vintage Taphouse

The total value of the approved projects is estimated at over $124,000, which will be a significant boost to the local economy. A stipulation of the grant program is that labour and materials be sourced locally from companies holding a valid Town of Drumheller business license.

Nathan Moore and Sharon Mathieu from Black Mountain Roasters stated “the Building Enhancement Grant is a great opportunity to help businesses improve their overall appearance in the Valley. In our case, it will create a great place to unwind during the summer months. Smaller businesses need as much opportunity as they can get to help grow. Using other local businesses to build your business helps grow the community, ensuring Drumheller is here for our future generations.”

"The Building Enhancement Grant is an excellent program that not only supports the recipient, but also local businesses. We are honoured that our upgrade proposal was selected, allowing us the opportunity to give back to the community. Everyone benefits from improvements and enhancements to the downtown core. Thank-you to the Drumheller & District Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Drumheller, and Community Futures Big Country," stated Dr. Ivan Chan from Drumheller Chiropractic Center.

“For 2023, we had a record 31 applications. On behalf of the three funding partners, I am delighted that we can financially assist 13 applicants with the $40,000 in total funding we had available. We have supported a variety of projects, both small and large, as well as new and established businesses across the Drumheller Valley. It is great to have this investment in our business community,” said Heather Bitz, Executive Director of the Drumheller & District Chamber of Commerce.
