Your local Chamber of Commerce had another busy Small Business Week!

As some of you may recall, in 2019 Chamber staff Heather and I visited our members with Ronald McDonald House cookies, got informed and shared our own updates. Because that went so well, this year we repeated our visits (with pre-packaged candy instead of cookies) and managed to visit 74 businesses and nonprofits over the course of 4 days. Once again, we learned a lot as we toured new buildings and offices, met employees, answered questions on COVID-19 programs, heard about inventory issues and staffing shortages, and more. If we didn’t get to your business or if you do not have a storefront and would like to catch up with us (and get a candy bag) please contact us! We would love to hear from you.

Additionally, we held two virtual events on Thursday, October 22. First up was a Zoom meeting for local businesses with the Drumheller Resiliency & Flood Mitigation Office, to discuss the draft Municipal Development Plan & Land Use Bylaw. You can view the recording of that meeting here.

Then, at 5:00pm we held our 9th annual Women in Business Mixer via Zoom. 27 ladies joined us for virtual breakout rooms, contests, prizes and wonderful conversations. We have also been collecting donations of new or gently-used women’s office wear to donate to local ladies in need via the Salvation Army. To date we’ve received 10 large bags of clothing! We thank all of you who took the time to share with us last week, those who donated items to our clothing drive and our mixer sponsors. Small Business Week is a great reminder of how unique, thoughtful and hard-working our business community truly is.
