Bright Valley Electric

What made you decide to start your own company?

It was one of those times where I was either going to do it or not. Although I liked being an employee and really enjoyed working with my previous employer, I was looking for a challenge. So soon as I saw that there was a shortage of electricians here in Drumheller, I realized it was time for me to open my own business. That was 3 years ago and now I have 2 employees working under me.

What is one thing people are surprised to learn about your business?

How much it costs. There are a lot of factors we consider and use different products and our customers are surprised to hear the costs that we have. But because we offer very efficient and excellent customer service, we get a lot of repeating customers and have built a good reputation here in Drumheller.

What are you looking forward the most now that the restrictions are more open?

Fortunately, the business didn’t get affected that much through the pandemic. We were considered as an essential service and was able to go through with our operations. But materials were more expensive than ever. There was a shortage and prices were higher than anticipated. Thankfully, our customers still supported us but I’m hoping materials would go back to normal.

What do you value the most being a Chamber?

I value the Chamber’s advocacy for local businesses. Especially for us, I saw the posting of the recent conference at Lethbridge and appreciate that they talked about electricity reforms. I’m glad that Drumheller Chamber was there to represent us and talk about the high electric bills.
